It's the 10th Anniversary of the Norfolk City Symbol - the mermaid. In honor of that and to celebrate the re-release of the city's beloved children's book, "There Goes a Mermaid! A NorFolktale," Mayor Paul D. Fraim has proclaimed from now until July 2010 to be The Year of the Mermaid!

The original book has been out of print for two years, but St. Mary's Home for Disabled Children and Author Lisa Suhay have teamed up to bring it back to honor of the 10th Anniversary of the Norfolk City Symbol.
